Art, by its nature, is an escape. However, for me, both the act of creating it and the final product serves as an escape. I hope to create art that creates a chance to get away from the real world for both me and the viewer through my essential question: “How can I create an escape through art?” The escape refers to something that might create an outlet for me while working on the project, take the viewer’s mind off of something by looking at the pieces, or represent what escape means for me or someone else. Using paint, watercolor, paper mache, and plaster, I created four pieces that I think reflect my question well and truly create an escape for the viewer.
