My objective for art this year was to use different forms to capture different facets of myself. I have grown a lot over the course of my high school years–both personally and artistically. I finally have a clearer understanding of what parts of myself are most significant in who I am, and I focused on how to best convey these parts in different mediums. I created three projects, all of the differing but unifying layers, illustrating the past, present, and future, along with 1D, 2D, and 3D forms. My first project was a collection of meticulously crafted clay pieces meant to imitate those I use in my daily prayers, illustrating my daily routines, spirituality, and attention to detail. I then painted the Chicago skyline with a sunset in the background, showing my hopes for the future and my calm spirituality. My final project was a silk painting of a hijab, conveying my religion and more of my daily life. Through this variety of different media, I was able to illustrate key parts of who I am in each project.
