How do I explore transformation through art? When thinking about how I wanted to answer this question, I decided that it was important to first explore what transformation means and why it is so meaningful to me. Transformation has no limits; it gives you the ability to take any object or idea and turn it into your own, incorporating your personal interests, views, and desires to create something that represents you. I have always had a passion for design and architecture, particularly that of homes, and I knew that I wanted to base my art pieces off of these concepts throughout the year. For my first piece, I transformed a bare kitchen scene, found in a magazine, into a space of my own, adding vibrant colors, patterns, and woodwork. I decided to take a different approach in my second piece, showing a transformation of the time period and setting from either side of the window. My artwork in the second semester was most representative of my fondness for home design and architecture, as I both built a model home and drew a variety of interior rooms, all of which showed my ability to take details, characteristics, and settings that I see in my daily life, and transform them into masterpieces of my own.
